Note:

Miami-based artist NFN Kalyan created several sculptural portraits for an ongoing series he entitled ‘Nature of the Beast’. The  portrait boxes are comprised of 20+ laser etched glass panes and are backlit with LED lighting contained within in a walnut base. The frames for each portrait was hand drawn by Kalyan.

Human nature is a vast cavern. It is difficult enough to know myself. Knowing my brother or sister’s soul would appear entirely impossible. To love is not to know but to coexist with peace inside yourself.

Celebrity is a most dangerous human condition. We cartoonize the famous. We turn a celebrity into caricature of a human being and judge them. But they do not really exist for us. Just their fame, which is only our own daydream. They are figments of our imagination.

In this way we can ignore our own nature. If another person is great, we turn him into a god. He is not like us. If he is weak, he is useless. He is not like us. If he destroys, then he is the devil. And most certainly not like us.

This is The Nature of the Beast.
